Cerema

Cerema (Centre for Studies and Expertise on Risks, the Environment, Mobility and Urban Planning) is the major French public agency for developing public expertise in the fields of urban planning, mobility, regional cohesion and ecological and energy transition. It has a staff of 2,600 people.

Beyond open data – which has been a priority of the past decade and is still ongoing – mobility stakeholders (local authorities, government agencies, operators, and their service providers) need to exchange data that is not open, for various purposes: monitoring contracts or public service delegations, digital Mobility-as-a-Service platforms, observatories, multimodal models, complex studies, and more. These needs often extend across territories that go beyond the boundaries of a single local authority.

Cerema joined Eona-X to collaborate on identifying the data-sharing needs of local authorities, and to help find stakeholders willing to test dataspaces as a solution to their requirements. This action is part of our participation in the national Mobidec research project, alongside UGE, Ifpen, IGN, and Inria.

Leverage data for the mobility transition

decarbonate, adapt to climate change, improve safety, improve access to services in the territories, simplify mobility for all, reduce environmental impact
Our vision is that bringing together open data and other data sources (ticketing, vehicle and individual data) via the Eona dataspace can help create a “data factory” producing the relevant data each actor needs for managing the abovementioned challenge of the mobility transition.

Concrete use cases for local mobility data sharing

Expertises-Territoires, an on-line community dedicated to mobility data topics

Cerema opened a web site aiming at sharing knowledge and technical exhange on mobility data ; data exchange and sharing are among the priority topics which will be addressed.

Avatar national traffic data platform

Cerema operates and maintains Avatar, a public and open platform aiming at collecting, processing and publishing traffic data collected by the local road management authorities.

MobSci-Dat Factory, the national mobility data platform for the research community

Cerema participates to this research project along with Ifpen, Université Gustave Eiffel, Inria and IGN ; the project will help addressing the mobility data user needs and share knowledge and open tools.
